Will Fortescue

Complimentary booking links open - register for a fabulous event to learn something about entering the world of professional photography , working at an iconic Africa Safari Camp and establishing your own style and approach to image-making to stand out in a crowded and competitive market.

Photography Experts have been charting the growing popularity and stunning portfolio of Will Fortescue and we are pleased to be able to introduce him to our audience who will, we are sure, appreciate his imagery and approach. Will’s journey to becoming a professional photographer began when he was 18, working as an intern in Kenya’s Maasai Mara national reserve. From then on, his mind has been set firm on the task of turning his passion in to a profession.

Now 27, Will has gained a first class degree in Marine and Natural History photography from Falmouth University in the U.K., and continues to work in the Maasai Mara as a resident photographer for Governors’ Camp Collection, leading photographic tours for their guests and creating their marketing content.

With Kenya as his base in East Africa he has been able to spend his time away from camp working on personal assignments, taking him to Uganda for gorillas, Ethiopia for geladas, Tanzania for painted wolves and most recently Amboseli for elephants.

It is here he has now spent three safaris in the last year, working with one of the region’s best guides (Eric Ole Kalama) to create images for his print collections sold via Red Eight Gallery in London.

It is Amboseli that forms the crux of Will’s complimentary introduction, discussing how he strives to create original content in an increasingly competitive industry. This starts in his camera bag, where he carries nothing longer than a 70-200mm, instead utilising top guides and ultimately, patience, to get safely within proximity of his subjects to create engaging, striking imagery.

This strategy, while perhaps more of a risk, comes with greater reward and in Will’s opinion offers a far stronger chance to create unique images. During this introduction Will will discuss how he utilises a combination of cameras with a 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 35mm and his go to 70-200mm to create his work and how he hopes this allows him to find his own place amongst an ever-expanding industry.

Photography Experts bring you the very best photographers who excel at their craft but also deliver a top-quality Web presentation that is as entertaining as it is informative. In each presentation the Expert not only shares their stunning imagery with you but the detail of where and how the image was taken, they will give you their own personal insights on composition and settings not available anywhere else in this format. We seriously recommend registration and participation in the live event for the chance to ask questions directly yourself or listen to the answers they give to other participants. Only registrants to the live event will have access to the Q&A content as well as being given a 72 hour post event streaming of the event, so even if for some reason you are unable to attend you still get to see the full event. Recordings are made available at a future date but without the premium content.
