Getting the edge in Macro
Alex Hyde
In our introduction to Macro with Alex, we convinced everyone to think small! Now it's time to develop the skill set and build on some of the basics with an introduction to the some of the advanced techniques and styles.
Macro photography can be unforgiving discipline. The slightest movement can ruin a focus stack and sometimes it is hard to even see the subject you are working with. In this specialist talk, Alex will relay his extensive in-field experience to help you better capture those stunning shots you have dreamed of

.Pixel-perfect macro is often about a simple selection of appropriate settings combined with good subject knowledge, rather than a big budget for lenses and travel. Learn why Alex goes into different scenarios with specific aperture and ISO decisions already made before he has even taken the lens cap off. Learn how specialist equipment such as macro probe lenses and x5 macro lenses can transform your perspective on nature, giving you images that stand out from the crowd. Throughout the talk you will see subjects from all around the world, from cordyceps fungus growing out of ants in Borneo, to hibernating insects coated in ice crystals in midwinter, just a few minutes from Alex’s house.
The event will be recorded and a link to view will be sent to all registrants.
There will be an extended question and answer session where Alex will address in detail matters arising from the audience.
